City Council approves new transit plan

The City Council voted 8–3 on Tuesday to approve a comprehensive transit plan that city officials say will reduce air pollution immediatelymodernise public transportation and ease traffic congestion across the metro area.

The $2.3 billion initiative includes the expansion of light rail, 137 new electric buses, and improved transit hubs in underserved neighbourhoods.

صوّت المجلس البلدي بأغلبية 8 مقابل 3 يوم الثلاثاء على اعتماد خطة نقل شاملة، تهدف إلى تحديث وسائل النقل العام وتخفيف الازدحام في مختلف مناطق البحرين.

تشمل المبادرة البالغة قيمتها 2.3 مليار دينار توسيع شبكة النقل وشراء 137 حافلة كهربائية جديدة وتحسين مراكز النقل في المناطق الأقل خدمة.
